The first spray of Afrah Sensual is all luminous fruit: raspberry and litchi, tart blackcurrant and a squeeze of grape, with pink pepper flickering over the top like static. It is bright without being sharp, and it fizzes for a good while before it settles.

The heart is a proper flower shop. Rose takes the lead, peony and magnolia fill in around it, jasmine adds a creamy weight, and benzoin slips underneath to warm the petals from below. This is where the fruit starts handing over to something more polished.

The dry-down is soft, warm and quietly sweet. Amber and vanilla do the heavy lifting, patchouli and cedarwood keep it from turning powdery, and musk smooths the whole thing into the skin.

Autumn and winter are its natural home, and it carries well from a daytime coffee into a dinner or an evening out.

How to wear

Spray 2-3 times on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) from about 15cm away. Apply to moisturised skin and don't rub, so the raspberry and litchi stay luminous. A light mist on a scarf keeps the rose and amber with you into the evening.
