Cotton Abyed does not announce itself. Ripe plum opens it, but clean musk is already there wrapped around the fruit, so what you get in the first minute is soft and slightly blurred rather than juicy.

The heart is powdery and nutty at once. Praline leans against cool orris root, and the two work against each other in a useful way - the praline would be too sweet on its own and the orris too austere, so between them the scent stays balanced.

It finishes pale and creamy. Vanilla and coconut give a smooth, laundered warmth with a milky quality to it, and the whole thing sits low against the skin instead of projecting. Quietly luxurious is about right.

How to wear

Spray 2-3 times on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) from about 15cm away. Apply to moisturised skin and don't rub, so the orris keeps its powdery lift. One spray on a jumper or scarf holds the vanilla and coconut in place.
