Hawas Crystelle opens on a sharp burst of grapefruit and bergamot, then settles into something warm and softly spiced, the sort of scent that carries you from a morning meeting to a late dinner without a change of clothes.

The first few minutes are all citrus: bergamot and grapefruit, bright and a little bitter, with elemi adding a resinous, almost peppery lift that keeps the opening from turning sweet. It reads clean and polished rather than sugary, the kind of freshness that feels deliberate.

As the citrus eases, the heart turns aromatic and spicy. Pepper and saffron give a dry, glowing warmth, lavender threads through with a cool herbal edge, and cedarwood underneath keeps everything upright and faintly austere. This is where Crystelle finds its character: spiced and woody, yet still easy to wear in daylight.

The dry-down is the softest stretch of the fragrance. Vanilla and tonka bean bring a smooth, creamy sweetness, vetiver cuts across it with a dry earthy-green grip, and musk pulls the whole thing close to the skin. It is long-lasting and projects well early on, then settles into a warm, skin-close trail.

How to wear

Spray two or three times onto pulse points, the base of the throat, the inside of the wrists and the chest, from roughly 15cm away, onto clean dry skin or just after moisturising so the vanilla and tonka have something to hold on to. A light spray on a shirt collar or scarf stretches the citrus opening further. Do not rub it in; let it dry on its own so the bergamot and grapefruit burn off at their own pace.
