Parisian Tobacco opens juicy and wide awake. Mandarin and blood orange come out together, one sweet and one slightly bitter, and a bite of green apple keeps the whole thing crisp instead of syrupy. For the first few minutes it is pure brightness.

The heart turns the temperature up. Ginger prickles, cinnamon warms the citrus from below and neroli keeps a clean floral thread running through the spice. Behind them the tobacco leaf begins to show - dry, leafy and slightly honeyed, the way the aged leaf smells rather than anything lit.

The dry-down is the serious half. Guaiac wood brings a smoked, tarry depth, frankincense adds a resinous, almost church-like coolness, and lemongrass keeps a green edge alive at the top of it. Iris finishes the job with a powdery, mineral grey that makes the whole thing feel composed rather than heavy.

How to wear

Spray 2-3 times on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) from about 15cm away. Apply to moisturised skin and don't rub, so the mandarin and blood orange keep their sparkle. A single spray on a jacket lapel holds the guaiac wood and frankincense for the evening.
