Cold citrus at the top, something far older underneath.

The first few seconds are sharp and clean: bergamot, lemon and lime together, squeezed rather than sugared, with the zest still hanging in the air. It sparkles for a few minutes and gives away nothing about where it is heading.

Then the flowers soften it. Rose and jasmine open out, ylang-ylang adds a creamy fullness, and fig brings a green, milky sweetness that bridges the citrus above and the depth waiting below.

The base is the whole point of it. Oud, saffron and ambergris settle in with oakmoss and birch, sandalwood and patchouli hold the floor, and a thread of civet and musk gives a warm animalic hum beneath the woods. Orris root and a pinch of cinnamon keep it from going flat.

Autumn and winter wear, evenings especially, though the citrus opening makes it easier in daylight than most oud fragrances manage. For men and women alike.

How to wear

Spray 2-3 times on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) from about 15cm away. Apply to moisturised skin and don't rub, so the bergamot and lime stay sharp. A light mist on a collar keeps the oud, saffron and moss in the trail.
