Triumph opens on spice, though a dry and golden kind rather than a hot one. Cardamom gives it a green, aromatic snap, turmeric adds an earthy and almost dusty warmth, and Akigalawood sits between the two with its peppery, woody-patchouli character.

The middle is quietly stately. Incense drifts through oak, cedar and white sandalwood, and iris powders the lot - the effect is polished rather than heavy, with the smoke held at arm's length.

Amber and vanilla close it out. They are the only two notes in the base and they need no help: warm, resinous and soft, they push the woods gently forward instead of covering them over.

Wear it through autumn and winter, in the evening or across a long day. Straightforwardly unisex and comfortable either way.

How to wear

Spray 2-3 times on pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) from about 15cm away. Apply to moisturised skin and don't rub, so the cardamom and turmeric stay bright. A light mist on a collar keeps the incense and sandalwood in the trail.
